Bobby Pin Earrings!
There’s no tutorial for this, but they’d be so super simple to make and fun to experiment with.

Truebluemeandyou: These are from TheGratitudeStudio’s Etsy Store here for $15 (sterling silver, sterling silver beads, freshwater pearls), available in lots of color combinations. So it’s a pretty good deal if you decide not to go the DIY route.

DIY: Rock Candy Trees
If you watched today’s Martha Stewart Show, then you saw some fun, albeit tacky, Christmas sweaters and this killer project that transforms rock candy into gorgeous end-table staples — glimmering winter trees.  The craft is super simple, just decorate a Styrofoam cone with 3-inch strands of rock candy and embellish with mini-ornament evoking materials like candies, rhinestones, etc. Get the skinny on these magical trees and make your own this way.

i love the (inexpensive) idea of covering books with brown craft paper. a relatively simple task once you get into the swing of things, it makes a bookshelf or pile look uniform and gives it a focused colour scheme. this particular pile belongs to mara zepeda—look at her wonderful handwriting! i found this through one of my favourite design-related blogs escapade, formerly known as ‘a life more fabulous’. i’m 90% sure that the author is a fellow canadian, so bonus points there. check out her blog here.
