  3. I think I would “rough” up the hardware a bit so it is not so shiny. I might even use recycled “throwaway” stuff in my workshop.

  4. Fall Fashion Alert Trend
Metal Capped Shoes
I don’t think that paying under $100 is too much but for a super trendy shoe that might be unwearable in a couple years, it is best to find a pair under $50.
As far as the metal being too shiny-you could look up a DIY on how to dull down the shine.
I am trying to find another site that offers better styles and prices but so far I am impressed by shoedazzle. Anyone have a site they are obsessed with?

DIY Inspiration. I recently reblogged the Valentino (lower right) with chain detail here saying it would make a great DIY with chain spray painted (Looking Glass Color?) from the hardware store or using other material. Then I saw Rachel Zoe’s 19” Gold QVC Make a Bold Statement Necklace (here) in gold, rose and silvertone for $88 at The Budget Babe’s site comparing prices for different heavy chain necklaces here. This makes it a definite DIY challenge. *Photo of Rachel Zoe from Thomas Laine here.

Another idea for the garden-related repurposing file:
Old metal wheels — look for them at flea markets — wired together to make edging for a planting bed.
