1. bestdayofmylife:

today i put together these fun easter surprise crepe paper eggs, i’m going to give them to my cousins on sunday. i followed this tutorial and man, was it more labor intensive than i was expecting. it took me MANY hours to prep the materials and wrap up the eggs! i also (as you can see) was not very good at keeping the egg shape… but i’m still pretty happy with how they turned out.

if you’d like to make these silly crepe paper eggs, first make sure you have the greater part of your day available to do it, then, i recommend following the instructions here… but below are my tips for relative success!

    • use prizes/toys/items that are flattish if you want your egg to easily stay egg shaped- the top and ring i used in mine were not super easy to incorporate.
    • don’t expect every layer to be egg shaped, think of it more like a puzzle and make the items eventually fit together into the shape you’re going for (notice how in more than 1 of my steps my egg is SO not an egg)
    • don’t be afraid to shove some extra crepe paper in there if you have to adjust the shape!
    • definitely pull a bit on the paper strip while wrapping - you’ll get a way smoother look this way!

GOOD LUCK and happy early easter friends!

(i’ll have a passover post for my fellow matzoh lovers tomorrow)
