This is a excellent tip to save money and our makeup brushes! Just like hair - these brushes need TLC. Leave the conditioner on for 5 minutes for extra softness! Thanks cupandpenny!
susie homemaker: cleaning your makeup brushes
Years ago for Christmas, my mom bought me a set of nice (expensive!) brushes from Bare Escentuals; I’ve been using them every day ever since. But they get a little grungy after much use, and the bristles start to feel rough after awhile.
So I went to purchase some (expensive) Bare Escentuals brush shampoo and conditioner, specially made for the brushes. I was going to pay a lot for them, but the lady at the store saved me! She said I could just use regular shampoo and conditioner (like the kind I use on my hair), and it would work just as well to clean and soften the bristles.
And she was right. I’ve been cleaning them that way every weekend since. It keeps them feeling nice on my skin, and keeps my skin from getting yucky bacteria on it.
Everyone always talks about Spring cleaning but I am a huge fan of Fall cleaning. Summer time is filled with dirt, bugs and pollen and my house is impossible to keep “clean” to my standards. So I LOVE FALL! Clean, crisp air and a fresh start.
Also - I try each year to replace chemical cleaners with more natural products…so far..so good. My favorite is baking soda and peppermint.
